GLOBAL FASHION INDUSTRY FOCUSES ON SUSTAINABILITY

ATO Chairman Gürsel Baran noted that the global fashion industry is increasingly prioritizing environmentally friendly and recyclable products, emphasizing that the fair will highlight sustainable and innovative technologies from eco-conscious brands.

Baran also underlined Türkiye's strong position as a net exporter in textiles and ready-to-wear, noting that Turkish brands are among the European Union's key suppliers. Stressing the importance of the European Green Deal, which affects the textile and ready-to-wear industry as well as many other sectors, Baran stated:

"The ready-to-wear, textile, and fashion industry is a massive global market worth $3 trillion. To ensure our brands stand out in this competitive environment, maintain their exports to the European Union, and claim their share of this vast economy, every company in our sector- from the smallest to the largest- must complete its green transformation. Our capital is already an important hub for textiles and ready-to-wear. Our goal is to make Ankara the capital of fashion, built on sustainability and technology."

He also acknowledged the challenges facing the textile sector due to the global economic slowdown, inflation, and exchange rate pressures, emphasizing that maintaining and strengthening international market relationships and promoting the industry's products make this fair all the more significant.
